Multiple Teams · Winter Season is Nearing Mid-Way Point

Owl Nation,

Congratulations to all of our Fall sports teams as they completed a very successful season! It is nearly the Mid-Way point of our Winter sports where games, matches and tournaments are taking place. The Winter sports offered include: Basketball, Wrestling and Soccer.

The Owls Men’s Basketball Team started successfully with a great showing in the Sunnyslope Hoops Giving Tournament placing second to Sunnyslope. They continued their winning ways by compiling a top ten ranking in the Arizona Republic and achieving a 7-3-win loss record. The Girls Basketball Team began with a great showing in the Desert Edge Scorpion Shootout winning the Championship of the Consolation Bracket and compiling an 8-3-win loss record.  Our Wrestling Team is off to a blazing start as they achieved a 3rd straight Big Red Championship Tournament Victory. The Owls were led by Scott Kellenberger as he took home the championship in the 152 lb division. Congratulations goes out to the entire wrestling team as all wrestlers did a great job! Our Boys Soccer Team showed very well in their home opener the Agua Fria Invitational Soccer Tournament. The Owls placed 4th under Coach Eid and Coach Fox. The team did an outstanding job representing Agua Fria with excellence! The Girls Soccer Team is doing a great job under the new direction of Coach Chaira and Coach Alvarado. Although they have a 2-4 record the girls are starting to play well and are looking forward to the Aztec Invitational Tournament in early January.

On behalf of Agua Fria Athletics, it is my privilege to say “Thank You” for all of your dedication and support as we hit the Mid-Way point of our Winter season. Our school motto is “Honor First… Win or Lose” and this year we are true to each facet of our focus. In the classroom, on the court… on the mat… or on the field …The student athletes at Agua Fria High School are simply outstanding!

Honor First …Win or Lose!
