The Agua Fria Owls took a tough loss to Ironwood on Friday, September 15th. The Ironwood eagle’s hosted the Agua Fria Owls in a very competitive game between the birds. Unfortunately for the Owls they fell to Ironwood 20-35. This makes the Agua Fria Owls record fall to 1-4.

The Owls had a good game against Ironwood but fell short. Many of our players had a game to remember. Our running back, Nicolas Murguia who had 27 carries for 172 yards Or team captain Cooper Niezgodski, who performed well on both sides of the ball. Cooper Niezgodski had 2 tackles for a large loss on defense, and he had 3 receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown on offense.

The Owls also took a tough loss to Deer Valley on Friday, September 22nd at 7:00. This was an away game for the Owls, and that played a role in why we game out with the loss. Unfortunately, the Owls record now falls to 1-5 which gives the Owls a slim hope of making the playoffs.

Our boys did show up to play though.Nicolas Murguia rushed 20 times for 102 yards which is 5 yards per carry and he is just a sophomore. Quarterback, Nate Verduzco, threw for a 37 yard throw to wide receiver, Dorien Haney, which was a big highlight of the game for the Owls.

The Owls defense did not have that good of a game allowing 35 point, but linebacker, Troy Shaver, had 2 tackles and a tackle for loss in the battle against Deer Valley. In this game captain Cooper Niezgodski, had another great game with 4 tackles, a sack and 3 tackles for a loss.

Now the Agua Fria Owls will face Desert Edge away on Friday, September 29th Updates will follow when scores are known! Go Owls!
