The 2018 Track and Field Season has come to a close for our young Owls. On Wednesday, May, 2nd and Saturday, May, 5th your Agua Fria Track and Field team qualified and competed in the 2017-2018 State Track and Field Championships.
Wednesday, May 2nd:
Our Girls 4×100 meter relay competed against 17 other teams from around the state. The team comprised of Senior: Grace Mia, Sophomores: Riley Roberts and Tyya Skaggs, Freshman: Nevaeh Cole ran well but fell just short of a new personal best. While qualifying for the 4×100 Sophmore Riley Roberts was also able to qualify individually for the 100 and the 200-meter dash. Riley was able to take 12th overall and was .03seconds away from her personal best in the 1oometer dash. In her 200 Riley fell a little short but was able to outrun 9 other athletes.
Saturday, May 9th:
Our Boys 4×800 meter relay team competed against 17 other teams and was ranked 15th overall. The team of Senior: Ruben Cruz-Valdez and Juniors: Alejandro Montano, Tyler Oldham, and Tayshawn Steward were looking to make some moves. Despite the temperature and battling sickness throughout the week the team was able to improve their positioning in the state and were able to finish 13th overall. Alongside the Boys 4×800 meter relay, Senior Cairra Page-Stevens competed in her fourth straight state Championship for Shot Put. Out of 25 athletes from around the state, Ciarra was able to finish 10th overall.
