Your Agua Fria boys took the field for the final time this 2018 season! Varsity & JV teams took the trip to Lake Havasu for doubleheaders; while your freshman team stayed home and closed their double-header out on the big varsity field. ¨A huge thank you to all of the staff members who have taken time out of their busy schedules to come watch us at the Des Combes baseball complex… we would like to take this time to thank you for your unwavering support of these young men over the last few months,¨ Coach Drew Olsson said.
The Freshman Owls won their first game 10-0, and lost their second game 5-8. ¨The Owls were led by their team captain, Ray Heredias… he struck out 10 and walked 0–an absolutely a dominant performance,¨ Coach Olsson said. The boys struggled to start out their second game when pitching became stalled, and the boys gave up 7 runs in the first inning. The freshman Owls ended with a final record of 12-4-1.
The JV Owls lost both of their games during their doubleheader with scores of 4-12 and 2-22. The boys battled through a competitive game until falling behind toward the end of the games, and not being able to make a comeback. Even through a tough season; the team stood together. The JV Owls ended the season with a record of 4-13-2.
The Varsity Owls battled hard during their doubleheader, but could not gather up enough offense to get the wins. Varsity lost both games with scores of 0-7 and 3-13. The boys played a promising competitive first half of the game, but could not hold them to the end. The second game against Lake Havasu had the offense fired up early, but could not get a breakthrough inning. ¨This year was a great transitional year with tons of learning occurring,¨ Coach Olsson said. The varsity boys ended their season with a record of 6-16.
The baseball boys have a couple weeks off until they begin the summer ball season! We cannot wait to see what is in store for next season. We are rooting for you boys. Go Owls!
