Are you interested in a fun and effective summer workout to stay and/or get in shape for the upcoming school year? Then the cross country team has great news for you. All throughout the summer your Agua Fria Cross Country team will be holding summer runs and weightlifting. This is an excellent way to stay in shape for you next sports season or your first sports season.

 

Summer Practice Times

Monday/Wednesday/Thursday

Meet on the track at 7:00 am for summer running

Tuesday/Thursday

Meet in the weight room at 10:30 am for summer lifting

 

Common Questions/Fears

Q: What do I have to do in order to practice over the summer?

A: Complete the register my athlete information for the Cross Country 2018-2019 season and upload the 2018-2019 camp/clinic waiver. For more information contact Head Coach Haubenstricker at Ahaubenstricker@aguafria.org.

F: I have never competed in a sport and/or done any long distance running. So I don’t know if I can really do Cross County.

A: We as coaches fully understand that not every athlete is going to be able complete an entire cross country race on the first day of summer or even the first day of fall. As such, we structure our workouts to each athletes ability level and will push that athlete based on their skill levels and what they can handle.

Q: What should I do before summer practice?

A: On Mondays/Wednesdays/ Thursdays before summer runs it is crucial that you drink some water before coming and having a light snack. Do not eat a large breakfast before running, you don’t want to see it again. On Tuesdays/Thursdays before lifting it is best to eat a meal at least an hour before we lift in order to have plenty of energy to complete the exercises.

Q: What should I bring to practice?

A: WATER BOTTLE. Always bring a water bottle to practice. We will have water but you must bring a refillable bottle.

Q: What should I wear to practice?

A: Appropriate workout attire (Running shoes for running, closed toe shoes for lifting)

Q: What if I am not sure if I even want to do cross country?

A: Come anyways!!! These workouts are geared to get all athletes in shape, even for other sports. You are not locked into the season. The decision about whether or not you do cross country or other sports can wait til the fall.
