The Owls recently had an away game against Sierra Linda High School on Friday, September 14th at 7:00. The Owls came into this 2-1 with a lot of confidence, and it clearly showed on the field. With hundreds of people in attendance the Owls destroyed the Bulldogs by a staggering 61-0 by the end of the 4th quarter.
To start out the game, the Owls kicked the ball off to the 25 yard line and the bulldogs offence came out for their opening drive. Their opening drive resulted in no points and a punt. Soon after this Agua Fria takes their opening drives and Eriyon Ward would score on a touchdown run. In the second quarter the Owls would have their highest scoring quarter of the year with 28 points, giving them a 35-0 lead at halftime.
After halftime the Owls came out and continued to beat the bulldogs out scoring them 26-0 in the second half. After this 61-0 shutout victory for the Owls, Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Quinn Boykins was awarded for overall player of the game. The Owls had a total of 479 all purpose yards for the game. The Owls were also able to get 41 total tackles for the defense.
The Owls also had their second home game of the season against Sunnyslope on Friday, September 21st at 7:00 pm. The Owls came into this game with a 3-1 record which is the best start the Owls have had in 6 years. The Sunnyslope Vikings came into this game 1-3, needing a victory to keep their season alive. The Owls were not able to get the win, losing 34-13.
Starting Quarterback Tre Lewis scored the Owls two touchdowns of the game, one of which was a 67 yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Senior running back Eriyon Ward also had some good runs averaging 5.7 yards per carry. The Owls defensive player of this game was Senior linebacker Adam Fuentes getting 6 total tackles and also a sack.
The Owls are 3-2 which means they are now tied for the best record in the 5A Desert West division. They also face off against the Willow Canyon next week in a home game on Friday, October 5th, at 7:00 in a non-conference game. Go out and support your Owls!
