As the wrestling season comes to a close, the players and coaches were very pleased with how the season ended.
As the new season started and many new faces joined the team, the coaches were ready for them. “We had a lot of new kids come out, but coaches did a phenomenal job on getting them up to speed and teaching them how to wrestle,” said Angel Martinez, a sophomore that has been wrestling for awhile.
As a team their record was 20-12, they placed 2nd at a home tournament and 4th at Mohave.
Everyone on the team grinded out through the season and worked very hard. The team had a lot of progress during this season.
They had three wrestlers go to State: Angel Martinez, Kemonte Wesson and Joseph Laborin. Congratulations to freshman Kemonte Wesson for making it to State, it takes a lot of dedication and hard work to make it to State in your first year wrestling.
“Next year is going to be just as good as this season and I can’t wait to improve,” Kemonte Wesson said. Wesson started at the freshman level and eventually moved up during the hard season, as the coaches saw him as a better fit for harder competition.
The coaches and returning players hope to see students and faculty out to their tournaments and matches next season. Don’t forget to say congratulations to every wrestler you see on their fantastic season.
