“I can’t wait,” said junior Neysa Munguia. She is ready for the season to start. Club has just stopped and now it’s time to focus on school ball.

The girls practice and preparation for the upcoming season starts at 3:30 and ends at 5:30, in that time it consists of taking infield, outfield, and then hitting. “We are working on building up the chemistry since we barely started,” Munguia said.

The girls all have love for the game, but to win and win as a team they need to become a team, one where they all know what each other are thinking, where they build each other up and all celebrate for each success.

Their first game was February 26th, against Central, the Lady Owls got their first victory to start off the season. Starting February 28th, the Lady Owls hosted a tournament, the first game was against Valley Vista and the second against Desert Edge. The Lady Owls lost to both but didn’t give up, the girls now know the things they need to work on.

The Lady Owls next game is March 4th, against Carl Hayden Community. Carl Hayden is not one of the Lady Owls strongest competition, they have lost their first two games by at least 14. The Lady Owls should treat this as a chance to get some more practice in. The game is home before an away game against an equal opponent Ironwood.

The Lady Owls are ready to win. Having a young team can be difficult if you don’t have the right kind of players. This group of girls are energetic, passionate and determined. They give it all they got even at practice they don’t want to lose, but if they do they will be able to hold their heads high and learn from it.

This team is going to make it very far. Do not miss out on all the excitement and opportunity to watch a great team that has so much love for the game.

The girls’ next away game is March 5th, at Ironwood, the next home game is March 8th, against Higley. Both games start at 3:45. Show up and give support, you won’t regret it.
