This past Saturday the Agua Fria track and field team competed at the 5th Copper Canyon Classic.
Despite scorching heats and malfunctioning timing systems, a lot of great times and marks were had. Some notable performances include: The Javelin core of Christ Martinez, Jesus Murillo, and Natalie Steinman had a “field day” with their school record-setting throws! Get it, bc javelin is a “field” event 😉
Our Lady Owl 4×100 team (Neveah Cole
Riley Roberts, Tyya Skaggs, Jaida Steward) and girls 4×400(Neveah Cole, Riley Roberts, Sophia Dunne, Jaida Steward) placed first. The girls 4×800( Angelina Anaya, Ahnise Chaira, Melanie Chavez, Viviana Martinez Romero) placed 3 overall.
Freshman Cesar Garcia had a breakthrough 18 second personal best in the mile with a time of 4:52. The boys 4×400 (Demitri Davis, Tayshawn Steward, Allan Can, Tanell Brown) are within a second of joining the list of Owls who have qualified provisionally for states.
Please keep supporting your track athletes in the classroom! It means a lot to them as they work hard to keep improving in their events.
Sincerely,
Your Agua Fria Coaching Staff
