As the 2019 Owls Band Season came to a grand finale, the team performed their way to victory. The team finished strong in their season finale as they were placed in the top 20’s at the Division AA 2019 Championship at Mountain Pointe High School on November 9th.
Not only that, the team performed phenomenally to be in that standing and the team had great scores in their performance, ranging from auxiliary, percussion and visual.
These final standings in those captions led the band team earning themselves in the top 20s in their season finale.
Before the team performed in the championship out in Phoenix, the team had their show on the road in Tucson to participate in the 66th Annual University of Arizona Band Day on October 27th at the UofA. Despite the injuries and absences that affected the team from their performance, they still managed to fight their way through the end.
Even though the team finished 7th out of the 8 schools in their division that participated in the matchup, the entire team stayed for the nightly performances by Catalina Foothills, Rincon, Mountain Ridge, as well as an exhibition performance by the UofA’s Pride of Arizona made their night the best for them!
When the season began for the Band, they made numerous highlights that impacted the team throughout the 2019 season, from the band placing in first overall in their first competition of the season, to achieving massive success by placing in the top 20s in one of their biggest competitions yet.
“I think our best memory this season was our very first competition because that was the time we got first place. We got all of the captions and that hasn’t happened to the band, and it was really exciting,” said color guard and senior Rian Cameron, who spent two years with the team.
Not only did the team have many new and familiar faces for the season, but they also had the seniors to help guide them through the season, some who have been there on the band team for four years. We would like to recognize Rian Cameron, Darren Tudor, Anthony Verrella and Juan Carlos Barragan for making a remarkable impact on the band program. All of the students here at Agua Fria High School are wishing them the best of luck in the future.
As always, we would like to congratulate the band team for having an outstanding 2019 season, hoping for a fantastic next season and beyond! Let’s go Owls!
