It was a very emotional final game for the Agua Fria Men’s Basketball team who played their last game of the season against Berry Goldwater. The seniors on the team are Tre Lewis, Rene Aguirre, Isacc Stewart, McArthur Osborne, William Baker and Raymond Tillman.

They took the floor for the last time repping the Agua Fria jersey with Owl Pride in their hearts.

The ceremony before the game was very emotional as the seniors took the floor with their families. Many of them started to tear up as it was their last basketball game here at Agua Fria.

“It’s been a love-hate relationship between me and basketball but I’m proud to say that I’m retired,” said Rene Aguirre after his last basketball game as an Owl.

In the first half of the game, Berry Goldwater took a strong lead, 38-20. In the third quarter, the Owls fought back into the game but were still down 53-43. In the fourth quarter, the Owls managed to tie it up at 56-56. As the last minutes of the game was counting down, the team was giving it their all but unfortunately couldn’t wrap up the game, losing to Goldwater 64-61.

McArthur Osborne scored 11 points on 63% shooting and Rene Aguirre scored 9 points on 67% shooting.

After the game, Tre Lewis remarked that his last game on the Men’s Basketball team “felt exactly how I thought it would. I concluded a great high school career and capped off all my sports accomplishments.”
